THE PLAYER SPEAKS | Not a lot out there, at least not as of this morning. I know that the guys at RRS had a story up as soon as Jason Reed tweeted "BOOM!" Reed is in charge of recruiting operations for Texas Tech. Anyway, The DMN had a bit on McElrath:
"They’re family oriented. I could see me taking my family down there. Tech really wants me, so I committed there. "(Defensive line coach John Scott Jr.) called me once a week to see if I wanted to be a Red Raider. Most of all, he cares about my family and what my family wants."
SCOUTING REPORT | Other than coming to the program with some serious size, we don’t know a lot about McElrath. I haven’t seen a bit of video on McElrath and I’ve even looked for some Coahoma C.C. highlights to catch a glimpse of McElrath’s #72 and I did find these highlights, but I have no idea as to when the highlights happened, but they were put online in 2012. A couple of things, Coahoma needs to change their font on their numbers because they are awful and the defensive line is pretty dominant. I have no idea if Coahoma is any good, but I’m guessing that they aren’t bad. Texas Tech will need some size after Dennell Wesley and Kerry Hyder and the hope is that guys like McElrath can offer that.
Also of note, is that McElrath originally signed with UT-Martin in 2011 and then signed with Alabama A&M in 2012 and then has spent some time at Coahoma C.C.
Keland, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
The 2014 Class | I know that some of these guys may arrive in December, which would mean that they would count against the 2013 class, but the 2014 class if filling up. Need a few more guys inside probably.
