The departure bug bites again as 3 to transfer from Texas Tech

Kliff Kingsbury has announced that Devin Lauderdale is suspended for the Advocare Texas Bowl against LSU for a failure to uphold Athletic Department Student-Athlete Expectations. Mike Mitchell (LB), Jalen Barnes (DB), and Derrick Dixon (DB) have announced their intent to transfer.

The loss of Lauderdale hurts us big time as he was just coming off a dry spell. Lauderdale is second on the team in receptions, and is a big threat on the outside alongside Reggie Davis.

Mike Mitchell will forever be known as a "what could have been" player. He held the highest Nike SPARQ combine score in his graduating class, and was a 5-star recruit at Ohio State before transferring to Texas Tech. Now it seems as if the waiting game isn't for Mitchell, as playing time was scarce for him this season.

Barnes and Dixon started a handful of games apiece, and showed great promise in the situations they got to play in. While Texas Tech's secondary is young, the loss of depth will hurt the Red Raiders come bowl season.

Good luck to these former Red Raiders who are transferring, and we hope Lauderdale gets everything straightened out and gets back on the field as soon as possible.
