Red Raider Gridiron: Texas Tech Commits on Scout Top 150 & 100 Lists

Scout released some of their top 150 and 100 lists and a handful of Texas Tech commits made these lists. Also, it's really no question who is Texas Tech's most important commit for the 2015 class, right?

Scout's Top 150 Lists. I'll try to follow up with this as we go along, but Scout released their Midlands Top 150 and Texas Top 100 lists and you've  got a handful of Red Raiders on each list.

Midlands Top 150
RB Corey Dauphine #26
OL Conner Dyer #39
OL Madison Akamnonu #45
WR Jonathan Giles #84
DE Lonzell Gilmore #109
WR Furquan Shorts #143
LB D'Vonta Hinton #145

Texas Top 100
RB Corey Dauphine #23
OL Conner Dyer #33
OL Madison Akamnonu #39
WR Jonathan Giles #71
DE Lonzell Gilmore #90

I'm a little surprised about how Gilmore has received a bump in recruiting ratings and he's now considered one of the top players in the region and the same thing about Shorts. With Gilmore and Hinton, it's about not having the measurables, but having terrific production for a high school career.  That's the only way to get on these lists, is having the measurables or having the production.  Hinton and Gilmore were both ridiculously productive during their high school years.

Most Important Commits. 247 Sports has the most important commits for the Big 12 and as you might expect, it is someone from an island:

Texas Tech - Breiden Fehoko, DT, Farrington (Hi.)
Texas Tech had Stidham committed for most of the recruiting cycle, only to lose him late. But the Red Raiders scored a major coup in keeping Fehoko, one of the strongest players in the class. Texas Tech tried to play a 3-4 a year ago, but without a dominant man in the middle. Fehoko could grow into that role pretty quickly as the No. 50 overall player in the 247Sports Composite, the No. 8 defensive tackle and the No. 2 player in the state of Hawai'i.

Miscellaneous. Good stuff from The Student Section about how an early signing period is a solution for a problem that isn't there . . . really interesting stuff from Bucky's 5th Quarter about why Gary Andersen left Wisconsin, in part because of the higher university admission standards . . . Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby has a Q&A with the ESPN folks and he refuses to comment about his relationship with Art Briles, so it appears that everyone is getting along swimmingly . . .
