The Legends of Coaching Award is incredibly prestigious, and its recipients include Jim Boeheim, Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, and Bill Self.
Tubby Smith has over 20 years of experience, and recently tallied a total of 500 wins in his 5 coaching stops: Texas Tech, Kentucky, Tulsa, Georgia, and Minnesota. Smith won a national championship with the Kentucky Wildcats in 1998.
In just three seasons at Texas Tech, Tubby Smith has brought a radical change to the program. Texas Tech went to March Madness for the first time since 2007, and went .500 in Big XII play for the first time in longer than I'd like to admit. Despite only making 7th in one of the most difficult conferences in the nation, Tubby Smith put a huge exclamation mark on this season with huge upset wins against Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma back-to-back-to-back.
Wreck 'Em, Tubby. Red Raider Nation loves you.
