Who will be visiting Texas Tech the weekend of the 16th?

National Signing Day is coming up in a few weeks, and several recruits are still considering Texas Tech. Some of those recruits are visiting Lubbock this weekend. Find out who will be in the Hub City this weekend.

National Signing Day is just a few weeks away, and the Red Raiders still have some holes in their recruiting class. Luckily for Texas Tech, they will have a lot of visitors over the next 3 weekends that could end up wearing the Red and Black. This weekend, Tech has 2 commits visiting Lubbock and 5 recruits visiting Tech, including a 4-star OT, SEC commit, former Houston commit, a Kansas commit and a newly offered CB.

The Commits:

Darreon Jackson - Safety (Derby HS, Derby, KS)

Height Weight 40 time Shuttle Vertical Power Throw Bench Squat Ratings
6'1" 190 lbs 4.48 4.31 36" 35.5' 263 lbs 501 lbs 83 (247), 73 (ESPN), 5.5 (Rivals), 2-star (Scout)

Darreon Jackson will be taking his official visit to Texas Tech this weekend, his first visit to Hub City. He visited Boise State last month, but hasn't visited Texas Tech yet.  New hired Coach Gibbs and Matt Brook visited Jackson just yesterday to meet each other and talk about his visit. Darreon could also help reel in fellow Defensive Backs like Henry Black, Arico Evans or Maurice Smitherman. I'm not too worried about Jackson leaving for another school. He seems to be solid with his commitment and no recent offers have shown up.

Lonzell Gilmore - Defensive End (Spring HS, Spring, TX)

Height Weight 40 time Ratings
6'3" 220 lbs 4.70 78 (247), 73 (ESPN), 5.4 (Rivals), 2-star (Scout)

Lonzell Gilmore will take his 2nd official visit and his first visit to Lubbock since committing to Tech. His other visit to was Nevada in December. Gilmore committed to the Red Raiders roughly a month ago, choosing Tech over Nevada via Twitter. However, it seems like Baylor has now offered and are trying to get Gilmore aboard. Luckily for Tech, Coach Gibbs payed him a visit yesterday and  Gilmore is taking an official visit to Texas Tech this weekend and get to see the atmosphere surrounding Lubbock. Fehoko will already be on campus, which should help convincing Gilmore is stay. I'm not sure weather or not he has a chance of decommitting, but you can never be sure.

Football Recruits:

Semisi Uluave - Offensive Tackle (Punahou HS, Honolulu, HI)

Height Weight 40 time Shuttle Vertical Power Throw Ratings
6'5" 315 lbs 5.55 4.73 26" 45' 91 (247), 78 (ESPN), 5.7 (Rivals), 4-star (Scout)

Semisi Uluave will take his 2nd official visit this weekend when he visits Hub City. He took an official to Oregon in late October and will also visit UCLA next week. Those 3 schools are in his Top 3 currently. Semisi has shown interest in Tech for a while now and Fehoko has been recruiting Uluave as well. Tech has 4 offensive linemen committed currently and could add another linemen or two. It's important to show a good atmosphere at Tech and to have a goo relationship with the players and coaches. We'll see where he ends up at the end of it all

Henry Black - Cornerback (Woodlawn HS, Shreveport, LA)

Height Weight 40 time Shuttle Vertical Bench Squat Ratings
6'1" 185 lbs 4.51 4.15 35" 320 lbs 415 lbs 85 (247), 74 (ESPN), 5.6 (Rivals), 3-star (Scout)

Henry Black will be taking his first official visit to this weekend to Texas Tech. He will also be taking an official visit to Baylor next weekend. Black is a DB that both Texas Tech and Baylor offered late in the process after missing out on some DB's early on. Tech saw him when they were visiting Shreveport after the season was over with. Now it appears that Black could end up in the Red and Black. There is no recruiter listed for Black, but if I were to guess, I would say Kevin Curtis was the recruiter. Who knows, maybe Smitherman and Black get along and want to pair up in college. I expect Black to make a decision sometime after his Baylor visit.

Arico Evans - Athlete (Hillcrest HS, Dallas, TX)

Height Weight 40 time Ratings
6'1" 190 lbs 4.50 83 (247), 76 (ESPN), 5.4 (Rivals), 2-star (Scout)

Arico Evans will be taking his 2nd official visit this weekend to Lubbock. He took one last month to Kansas (where he is committed too) and will be taking a visit next week to TCU and the week after that to Arkansas (who have not offered). Evans is someone Tech offered right before the dead period began, but committed a few days after the offer and a couple days after his visit. Something tells me that his commitment isn't very solid with Kansas right now and could flip to the Red Raiders if he's impressed enough. He's listed as a Wide Receiver and Cornerback on many sites, but I think he would be DB if he commits to Texas Tech. It's all speculation though. Evans would be a great athlete is have aboard.

Riley Daniel - Offensive Tackle (Ringling HS, Ringling, OK)

Height Weight 40 time Bench Squat Ratings
6'6" 310 lbs 5.23 350 lbs 455 lbs 81 (247), NR (ESPN), 5.4 (Rivals), 2-star (Scout)

Riley Daniel will be taking his 1st official visit this weekend when he visits the Red Raiders. He is also visiting Baylor on the 23rd. Riley Daniel was originally committed to Houston, but decommitted soon after a Texas Tech offer. Now it appear he could end up a Red Raider. Texas Tech has two things going for them; Riley named Tech his leader last month and former Houston coach David Gibbs is on the staff (even though he was on the defensive side). Riley Daniel seems to really like the Red Raider and could be one when it's all said and done.
