Bowl Game Picks. Hey! I failed to set up a college bowl pick'em because of stuff, but thankfully we had someone set up a Viva The Matadors bracket. You have straight picks and confidence picks. The password for both are "vivalosmatadors". Get signed up and brag to all of your friends.
Welcome Joseph Clark! This has been a year in the making and a huge congratulations to Joseph Clark, who finally became part of the Texas Tech football family. During Clark's senior year, he tore his ACL and missed a good part of the year. Texas Tech and Clark agreed to greyshirt him, which means that he was promised a spot in the next class, which would be this year. Clark is an undersized safety prospect, 5-8/180, and he's similar to what Derrick Dixon brings to the team in the sense that he's a terrific and fearless hitter. You can check out the Viva The Matadors profile on Clark from last year. You can check out Clark's junior year highlights (which includes some highlights of Patrick Mahomes and Dylan Cantrell):
Fehoko Senior Highlights. Don't need to say a lot here other than I would not want to play quarterback with Fehoko on the defensive line.
Hicks to Decide on Friday. According to the Chronicle, newly offered quarterback Ben Hicks from Waco Midway is set to make his decision on Friday. Hicks is deciding between Houston, SMU and Texas Tech. Hicks has been committed to Houston since May and Hicks spoke with RaiderPower about Texas Tech and where he is on his decision process:
Must Reads
"They just talked to me about the situation at quarterback right now and I think it's pretty obvious that I would fit into their system by how much they throw the ball and what they do by stretching the field vertically," Hicks said. "They more just kind of talked about what has been going on with the quarterback situation and how I would come in in the spring and do."
Ultimately, what is Hicks looking for in a program? How important is playing time to him?
"I'm just looking for a good relationship with the coaches," Hicks said. "You're never guaranteed playing time. You have to earn your playing time no matter where you go. They can tell you that all you want to hear, but you have to go earn your spot, so it's more relationships and education for me."
There's a lot more quotes at the link, so go check it out.
Tony Brown to Decide Today. La Miranda California wide receiver Tony Brown is set to decide between Texas Tech and Colorado today. We'll have coverage if he chooses the Red Raiders.
Film Review on Conner Dyer. TexasFootball has a look at Texas Tech commit OL Conner Dyer, who has been committed to Texas Tech since July:
CSD Strengths: Excellent length and size with long arms. Knee bender, flexible and light on his feet with good explosion and pop out of his stance. Very athletic, can easily work his hips and maneuver. Uses his hands well to control DL. Can combo block and work his way up to LBs and DBs. Excellent feet to slide and mirror as a pass blocker. Mean and nasty kid who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Confident and energetic player who loves the game.
