Really, no article?
It was unfortunate to hear Cal fired Dykes four years into employment. It sounds as if a number of contributing factors played into the decision including a desperate to be employed Chip Kelly still residing in the Bay Area. But it also seems Dykes might have gotten a little too ambitious with his consistent flirtations with other programs each offseason. Logically that did not sit well with Cal leadership.
What is Cal's loss should be Tech's gain. Dykes would make a great Offense Coordinator and replace an "OC in name only" Eric Morris who still needs time to mature as a coach. You don't think this is the case? He was already not calling the plays. Hocutt was clear in his end of the season comments that the expectation is for KK to relinquish some of the offensive responsibilities and concentrate on being a complete coach and head of the program. Dykes may only use Tech as a stepping stone to another HC post in 2018, but given his connection to the University and his understanding of the offense Sonny is an ideal candidate to help Tech through what will be a transitional period during the 2017 season.
Bring Sonny home. Wrek'em.
