Red Raiders in the Pros - Wild Card Edition

Red Raiders have a less than stellar weekend to start the playoffs

Oakland Raiders 14 @ Houston Texans 27

3 members of the Raiders have ties with Texas Tech, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, defensive end Branden Jackson, and running back DeAndre Washington. Jackson was inactive for this game after getting a few games of experience on special teams. Washington was part of a 3-headed monster at tailback along with Latavius Murray and fellow rookie Jalen Richard. In this game he had just 4 carries for 16 yards, most of which came on a 14 yarder. He also dropped a pass in the flat that could have gone for a 1st down, or possibly more. Crabtree had over 1,000 yards this season, but just 33 yards on 2 catches this week, although he was targeted 7 times, with quite a few drops on catchable balls. Crabtree also led the league in drops this year, something he will have to work on this offseason.

Detroit Lions 6 @ Seattle Seahawks 26

Kerry Hyder was a surprise star in his first full NFL season as an edge rusher for the Lions. He had 2 tackles and was credited for a quarterback hit in the loss. Kerry’s great season has made him a star in a Lions defense that is in need of pass rushers. He should have a great chance to establish himself as a cornerstone of the Lions defense for the foreseeable future.

Miami Dolphins 12 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 30

Jakeem Grant was limited to returning duties this year and unfortunately had some miscues that have raised some questions about his future with the team to some Miami fans. He had 4 this season plus another in the playoff game on his only kick return of the day.

Next week Amendola, Waddle, and the Patriots welcome in the Texans as the only Red Raiders left still playing in the playoffs.
