Oklahoma Run Rules Texas Tech, 17-4

Oklahoma unloaded a thunderstorm of hits on Texas Tech to take home the victory in the Big XII Tournament, eliminating Texas Tech.

BOX SCORE:

Score: 17-4, Oklahoma

Hits: OU: 17 TTU: 7

Errors: OU: 0 TTU: 1

PLAY THAT IMPACTED THE GAME:

Texas Tech looked to take an early lead in the 1st, going up 2-0. Oklahoma responded quickly, tying the game up 2-2. The early momentum that the Red Raiders gained off a Michael Davis home run had been erased, and Oklahoma quickly showed that they weren't backing down from the blistering Texas Tech offense.

STAT OF THE GAME:

8/9

8 of the 9 Oklahoma starters had at least two hits or more. That about says it all.

FORGOTTEN PLAY OF THE GAME:

Oklahoma turned a great double play in the third that ended a huge opportunity for Texas Tech to take a commanding lead. OU turned around and had a huge half inning and took a commanding 8-3 lead. The Oklahoma bats in the third were blistering, and Texas Tech never really recovered.

BIG REASON WHY TEXAS TECH LOST:

There were many wonky balls hit into the infield gaps that we never really got a good handle on. Oklahoma's base hits, especially in the 3rd inning, killed Texas Tech slowly but surely. So many hits were just outside of the reach of Texas Tech gloves.

Texas Tech also walked a fair amount of batters. I'm no pitching expert, but it's not exactly a secret that our pitching was not exactly up to par.
