Tech shows their mettle by overcoming early deficit and withstanding CSF's late charge

1. Red Raider of the Game

Tyler Floyd gets the nod in this game going 2 for 3 with 2 big RBI's. The biggest of which came in the bottom of the 8th when the score was tied 5-5. Floyd doubled in the game winning run to help Tech secure their first win of the series and set up the rubber-game on Sunday.

2. Play That Impacted the Game

The aforementioned play. Floyd, who has been getting more time behind home plate lately over Kholeton Sanchez, came through in a big spot to get the Red Raiders the lead after Fullerton completed the comeback tying the game in the 6th. Floyd took a 1-0 pitch to left for the game winner.

3. Stat of the Game

8. The number of runners Tech pitchers stranded. Fullerton out hit the Red Raiders 12-7, but weren't able to capitalize due to some well placed pitches for Tech's pitchers to get out of jams.

4. Forgotten Play of the Game

Down 1-0, Tanner Gardner led off the 2nd with a hit-by-pitch, on an 0-2 count no less. That set everything in motion for Tech to put a 3 spot on the board and grab a 3-1 lead.

5. Big Reason Tech Won the Game

Tech's bullpen. Ty Harpenau struggled unable to get out of the 4th (The second Tech starter to leave early). The bullpen pitched 5 and 1/3 of solid relief. Martin Davis had a rough patch as the immediate replacement to "Harp", but did just enough to eat some innings and preserve the lead.

Tech goes for the series win today. It is extremely important for Ty Damron to go deep in the game and take pressure off a fatigued bullpen. Even if it doesn't show now, those innings tend to accumulate and show up in conference play. Would like to see Damron go at least 6, but may have to ask him to eat innings if the game gets away early.
