1. Red Raider of the Game
Ryan Long, again had a 2 RBI hit. Just like yesterday against Houston, he put Tech up ahead 5-3 in the top of the 10th. Talk about clutch hitting on the big stage.
2. Play That Impacted the Game
In the bottom of the 7th inning with the game tied at 2, Robert Dugger had gotten 5 straight outs. After a single to right, there was another single to center that was mishandled by Farhat, allowing a runner to round 3rd. The throw home was high, and the runner scored putting the Cajuns ahead 3-2.
3. Stat of the Game
2. Tech turned 2 double plays in the game, to end the 1st and 2nd innings. Coming into the game, Tech was tied for 1st in the nation with 9 double plays, and added 2 more today.
4. Forgotten Play of the Game
In the top of the 6th, with the game tied at 1, Garcia came up and launched a ball deep to center. It went over the wall, just left of center over the 404' sign. The announcers mentioned it was a 420' shot, in a rather deep part of the park.
5. Big Reason Tech Won the Game
Never give up, never surrender. In the 9th inning, the Red Raiders were able to load the bases without getting any outs. They were able to capitalize on 2 errors by the shortstop, stole a base, and outrun some mistakes by the Cajuns. The experience in the lineup is showing, and the young pitching staff has done very well.
