Texas Tech Recruiting Roundup, 1/20

National Signing Day is now 2 weeks away and Texas Tech's class sits at 26 recruits. In this edition of Recruiting Roundup I'll take a look at the top needs for what this class still needs.

1) Offensive Linemen

The Red Raiders are going to be young across the offensive line in 2016 after losing 3 of 5 starters. The class last year was compiled of 6 linemen commits but only three of those were 3-stars or higher. I know ratings "don't matter" but they're usually pretty accurate at predicting a certain skill set. That doesn't mean that skill set will always stay the same, it can be improved upon once in college. But in just a year I'm not sure how much one can improve that skill set. The fans will need to look for Conner Dyer and Madison Akamnonu to step up when needed. As of right now the Red Raiders have 4 o-line commits in the 2016 class. I expect them to make a hard push to add one more commit to help out with the thin depth at offensive line.

2) Defensive Secondary

As of right now the 2016 recruiting class only has 4 secondary commits with 3 corners and 1 safety. I know that the majority of the starting secondary is still young themselves but depth is always nice to have. Last year's class had 2 safeties and 1 corner but that CB was Paul Banks who was a juco commit. If the Red Raiders aren't able to add another recruit or two for this class then I imagine the coaching staff goes after secondary recruits hard in 2017.

3) Anything

The Red Raiders are deep at wide receiver and running back when it comes to the depth chart. It seems as though they have their quarterback of the future in Jett Duffey. The 2016 class has 8 defensive line commits, but hey I'll take as many defensive linemen as I can get. D'vonta Hinton looks to be a starter at linebacker for the next 3 years and Dakota Allen will be around as well plus there is also a handful of LB commits coming in the 2016 class. Even though the Red Raiders look to be set at the above mentioned positions, I'd take another commit or two at any position.
