I thought Tech had a good chance to capture their first conference road game tonight. The Red Raiders could not have expected KSU to shoot the three point ball the way they did. For the season they shoot 22%, but tonight they shot 53% going 10 for 19. Some nights the other team just has the hot hand and there is not much that can be done.
First Half
The story of the first half was the unbelievable three point shooting by KSU. They made 8 of them and absolutely shell shocked the Red Raiders. Tech struggled on both sides of the ball by not guarding the three and only shooting 31% from the field. At the half KSU led, 47-31.
Second Half
Tech came out as the aggressor with tough man to man full court defense. After 13 minutes of battling the Red Raiders cut it to 5, but then KSU went on an 11-0 run to extend the lead back to 16. That 11-0 run ended up being too much to overcome as the Red Raiders were out of steam.
Game Notes
- Leading scorer Devaugntah Williams first 2 points came with 6 minutes left in the game. He finished the game with 6 points. He needs to get back on track if we are going to have success.
- Free throw shooting was back tonight, 19 for 22 (83%).
- Justin Grey had a career high of 23 points to go with his 8 rebounds. He was the bright spot tonight.
- KSU shot 56% from the field and Tech was 36%.
