It appears that several members of the Texas Tech Football team will not be with the Red Raiders in the fall.
Texas Tech has removed LB Dakota Allen, OL Robert Castaneda and OL Trace Ellison from the team.

There are several players that we could technically "afford to lose", as terrible as that sounds. We could not afford to lose Dakota Allen (top returning tackler) and two Offensive Linemen off of an already thin OL.
The Tech dismissals were "due to a failure to uphold student-athlete expectations."

"Failure to uphold student-athlete expectations" could mean any number of things, but it likely means grades at this point in the semester. It also could be due to class attendance, or something else academically related. I don't want to speculate on this much further, as this is all we know now.
The chickens have come home to roost. Turn on your sad playlists, it's our turn to feel the pain.
