DeAndre Washington Taken 143rd Overall By The Oakland Raiders

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

DeAndre Washington has found his NFL home.

DeAndre Washington (along with Jakeem Grant) is one of the most underrated prospects in the NFL Draft, and I don't think that's a homer opinion.

With the Red Raiders, Washington rushed for back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in an Air Raid offense. He's Texas Tech's first 1,000 yard rusher in the past 16 years. Washington was behind Kenny Williams for a few years, especially after an ACL tear, which SBNation dot com wrote about at length. DeAndre Washington was a 1st team All-Big XII performer in 2016.

A lot of Washington's perceived weaknesses in the draft came from his """lack of speed""", but I think anyone can look like they have average speed when compared to the rest of our offense. Washington's acceleration in the open field is truly insane, there aren't many people in the world that can start and stop on a dime like he can. Even though he was taken in the later rounds of the Draft, he's going to make someone very happy very soon.

DeAndre's underrated ability is definitely his blocking. I can't find any specific clips to match this claim, but he was an integral part of defending Patrick Mahomes and Davis Webb without a tight end in the picture. Let's reminisce on some great DeAndre Washington moments.
