Quick Reaction: Texas Tech signs 4-star WR JF Thomas

Nothing like taking a player from your rival. JF Thomas has chosen to flip his commitment from the Horn Frogs to the Red Raiders after visiting last week.

Well, well, well. What a surprise. JF Thomas, a 4-star receiver from South Oak Cliff, has decommitted from TCU and decided to sign with his head coach (Emmett Jones) at Texas Tech. He becomes the 6th receiver in this class and Tech's 5th Blue Chip commit. I have not review JF Thomas, but here are his measurables.

Interest: Texas Tech (Committed), TCU (was committed), Texas (Cool), Ohio State (Cool)

We don't know a whole lot about Thomas, mostly because he wasn't really on Tech's radar until late in the process. TCU offered him back when he was a 3-star in April and Thomas committed right away. He had been committed to TCU ever since, even with offers from schools like Texas coming in. If appeared that Thomas would sign with TCU until Tech hired Emmett Jones and convinced Thomas to visit Texas Tech on an official visit. While we didn't get a reaction from Thomas, it appears he liked the visit. Now, he's surprised us all, switching from TCU to Tech. The Horn Frogs just lost their highest rated commit of the 2015 class. He gives Tech another tall receiver to throw the ball too and looks like he'll be a good addition. However, I have heard rumors about possibly not having the grades, so that's something to keep an eye on.

Now let's see what Thomas brings to Tech. JF is a tall receiver that makes plays on the ball and uses his ability to separate himself from the pack. The QB throws it up to Thomas countless times, and he comes down with the football. Sometimes it's a simple catch, sometimes it's one handed, possibly over someone or over his back shoudler. Thomas has some great hands for a guy his size. He also has a lot of speed when he enters the open field. He can evade defenders and make his way down the field, past the defense. He's a big difference maker and a huge addition for Tech.

Congrats JF Thomas and Wreck'Em!
