Eric Gutierrez went 2-3 with 4 RBI's and a 3-run shot in the 5^th inning. Gute continues to impress with a stellar season. He has started every game this season, and leads the team in RBI's and in slugging percentage. He also has a .991 fielding percentage, with just 3 errors on the season.

With Tech up 5-2 in the bottom of the 5^th, a Raley single and a Neslony walk put 2 on for Gute, who did not disappoint....

3. Stat of the Game

7. It took junior pitcher Hayden Howard just 7 pitches to get Sam Houston St out of the 9^th inning. The game was close, and a couple baserunners would make the game closer than it needed to be. A 4-pitch groundout, a 1^st pitch fly out, and 2-pitch ground out would give Tech the win.

4. Forgotten Play of the Game

After SHSU took a 2-1 lead in the 3^rd inning, Trey Ochoa would single to center and bring up Tanner Gardner, who promptly sent the 2^nd pitch he saw to right field, putting Tech back on top for good.

5. Big Reason Tech Won the Game

3 home runs pushed Tech over the Bearkats, with Garcia, Gardner, and Gute all launching balls out of the park. Starter Eriksson Lanning went 5 innings and only allowed 2 hits. Relievers Dugger and Howard pitched very effectively after Dalton Brown allowed a few runs. It can be hard to continue to play at a high level against a lower level non-conference opponent, but tech added another win onto its impressive record.

Game 2 is currently being played, with Tech up 6-0.....in the 3^rd inning.
