Austin Deshay, a strongside defensive end, committed to Tech late yesterday evening. That makes two high school defensive line commits in one day and a total of six defensive lineman in the 2016 class up to this point. Deshay is from Pflugerville, TX and attends Hendrickson High School. He is listed at 6'4, 230 and is rated as a 2-star by Rivals and a 3-star by 247. His junior year highlights are below.
Based on his film he has a nice frame with plenty of room to add weight. I am impressed with his ability to bullrush the tackle, but he is also quick enough to beat them up the field. He reads his keys well and doesn't overcommit. There are a few zone read plays where he is the QB's key and he plays it just as he should by standing his ground and not committing to either the QB or RB.
Drew will give us a breakdown in tomorrow's recruiting recap of both the Deshay and McCann commit, but I think the coaches did a great job in getting both of these kids. I am excited to see them don the red and black next season.
