Texas Tech News, Notes and Links:  2015.02.09

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Your morning news, notes and links on Texas Tech athletics, including Todd Petty nearing 100, Cierra White is fast, the Adrian Gregory softball era is underway, baseball is a week away and some football links.

Good morning everyone. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I grilled out last night and Fitsum was barefoot running around. Because of the great weather, I worked in the yard and house for most of the day so I'm running behind a bit for content this morning. Win the day.

FOOTBALL

* Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury on not signing a QB, why he expects great things from Kyler Murray at Texas A&M; | Dallas Morning News -- Nothing ground-breaking here, but here's a quote to make this post look longer:

"As you know, you build relationship with these kids for years - then things change; different people sign different places. Teams have good years, teams have bad years. So there's a lot of dynamics that go into it. Football's different than most sports. You continue recruiting kids long after they're committed other places. That's just kind of how it's been for a long time. At the end of the day, you hope you can hang onto yours and hopefully sign away a couple of people that you have had your eye on."

* Cedar Hill (Texas) coach Joey McGuire turns down Texas job to remain in high school football | USA Today High School Sports | USA Today High School Sports -- Supposedly the next high school coach in line is Gilmer's Jeff Traylor.
