Multi-Tasking. I was out last night, doing the Dallas Arboretum 12 Nights of Christmas, which Fitsum and Mrs. Seth C really enjoyed (I did too, but maybe not as much as they did), so if you need something to do on a night, it was good. The bad thing is that there just isn't much news out there this morning. Anyway, I'm writing the football post while watching the game at 3:45 am. Let's do this.
Texas Tech Photo Book. Friend of the blog, Totally Texas Tech, is selling his coffee table books and reminds us that if you need a unique Christmas gift for someone, either one of his books is a great option. Make sure and order before December 9th.
White Pressed Into Duty. LAJ's Don Williams writes about how S John White was pressed into duty last week due to the injuries to S Keenon Ward, S Dorian Crawford and S Jalen Barnes:
"Oh, of course," White said. "And really, it didn't come down to me playing that play or getting out on the field on defense making it worthwhile. Being on the team is worthwhile. I love being here. I love being part of the team."
It's not that situations such as Saturday's were all new to White. Not by a long shot. Football's in his DNA. One of his cousins, Bo Robinson, was an all-Southwest Conference defensive end at Texas. In high school, White played for a state-finals team his freshman year and threw for 2,000 yards on a state semifinal team his senior year.
Those credentials aside, at Tech his role's to do the dirty work of special teams. Come to think of it, he looks the part. White sports a lumberjack's beard, a Grizzly Adams tangle uncut since the start of summer workouts.
"Every once in a while, I have to trim my mustache back," he said. "It gets in your way a little bit. Everything else, I just let it go."
Washington's 1,000 Yards. Courtney Davis talks to RB DeAndre WAshington about breaking the 1,000 yard mark.
Miscellaneous. Fox Sports David Ubben has his weekly pregame huddle and his week 14 predictions. Ubben is predicting a 30 point win or so and that seems about right. Like it or not, Baylor is really good and not knowing who is available in the secondary, I'd guess a similar score. Anyone else think that Corey Coleman might have a big day? #
