Mason Montgomery, the left handed pitcher that started all but one weekend for the Red Raiders in 2021, has been drafted in the MLB Draft.
Montgomery will get to stay teammates with Dru Baker, as he was drafted with the 191st pick by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Montgomery is the fourth Red Raider drafted today on the second day of the draft.
In 2021, he held down the Sunday rotation spot for a majority of the year, while coming out of the bullpen against TCU and having one of his best outings in that game in relief.
For 2021, Montgomery had a 3.82 ERA over 63 2⁄3 innings with a 5-3 record.
Opponents hit a measly .213 off of Montgomery in 2021, second only to Ryan Sublette on the Red Raiders.
We wish Mason the best of luck in his future baseball career and we hope to see him in the majors soon.
