Road games after road games, the women’s soccer team finally comes home to face their final game of the season against Texas. Tech’s Soccer team has an outstanding 12-4-1 record this season. The weather looks to be perfect for soccer game day, so why not go out and support the Lady Raiders one last time this season at home.
The Longhorns are sitting at No. 17 and are fresh off of three straight wins. Granted those wins were all at home. Their last loss was an away game against West Virginia. The Longhorn’s overall record is 13-2-2 and fierce Junior forward Cyera Hintzen is a power player who is on the prowl to break records this season. If UT wins this game they head to the tournament in the No. 3 seed. If they lose, they could potentially drop down to the No. 5 seed. No pressure on them.
The Red Raiders come out strong in the second half with goals per period averaging 9 the 1st and 18 the 2nd. Number 9, Jade King leads the team in goals and game winning goals with 7 goals and 3 game winning goals. Red Raiders average 15.9 shots per game. They average 33 offsides versus opponents 9 for the whole season, so discipline should be the focus.
Regardless, UT is 6-4-0 all-time against Tech in Lubbock and 12 of the last 13 games have either been won by one goal or has gone into extra time. This is expected to be a great game and competitive until the end. Games are always a fun time at the John Walker Soccer Complex. So grab your coats, beanies and blankets and clear your Thursday night at 7 p.m. to make sure you watch this enthusiastic match.
