Big 12 Conference at a glance - week 4

We take a look at teams around the conference as Big 12 play begins

The Red Raiders travel to Houston this week but we take a look at other teams in the Big 12 as conference play begins.

West Virginia (2-1) @ Kansas (1-2)

The Mountaineers have won 2 straight after a close season opening loss against Virginia Tech. Wins over Eastern Carolina and Delaware State aren’t great, but this week their competition doesn’t get much better with a trip to Lawrence, as they are 21.5 point favorites over the Jayhawks. Kansas took care of Southeast Missouri State before dropping games to Central Michigan and Ohio. Kansas doesn’t look much better than they have the past few years.

#16 TCU (3-0) @ #6 Oklahoma State (3-0)

This game should be good. An OSU team that has been lights out in strong victories over Tulsa, South Alabama, and Pittsburgh will face some actual competition against an undefeated Horned Frogs team. TCU has taken out Jackson State, Arkansas, and SMU in convincing fashion, but has had sluggish starts. OSU is currently favored by 13 in a game that should tell us a little bit more about how each team actually is.

#3 Oklahoma (3-0) @ Baylor (0-3)

Uh oh, this won’t be pretty. It’s never good when a visiting team in conference play is favored by more than 20, and it happened in 2 of the 3 conference games this week, as the Sooners are favored by 27.5. Baylor probably should have beaten Liberty and UTSA, but that didn’t happen. A reeling Bears team will probably be blown out by a very strong Sooners squad. Some are predicting the Bears to go winless this year, but I believe they’ll knock somebody off not named Kansas. This game won’t be it.

Kansas State, Iowa State, and Texas all have their bye week this week as they prepare for their own conference openers next week.
