5 Things Happening Around Raiderland

Here is what’s happening around Texas Tech this week...

DeAndre Washignton getting reps with Raiders

In last week’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Texas Tech product DeAndre Washington received first-team Reps with the Oakland Raiders. Washington had 14 yards on 11 attempts and 38 yards on 4 receptions. Many are pegging him to be the backup to Latavius Murray.

The Red Raiders head to Tempe to battle the Sun Devils

After a blowout win against SFA this past Saturday, the football team looks to win in the desert against Arizona State. This will be the third time both teams meet, with the Red Raiders currently holding the winning streak after the upset win against the Sun Devils in the 2014 Holiday Bowl. After their game in Arizona, the Red Raiders return home to Lubbock for another game under the lights against Louisiana Tech.

Women’s Soccer bounces back after loss

The Lady Raiders suffered their first loss to the California Golden Bears last Friday, but bounced back this past Sunday winning over Abilene Christian 3-1. They will be back in action this Friday, September 9th, when they face-off against Oral Roberts.

Labor Day

It’s nice not having to set an alarm. Today is Labor Day, so that means a lot of things are closed. This also means that Texas Tech’s campus will also be closed for the holiday. I’m sure the students are very heartbroken that their usual day of school has been canceled and now have to spend their free time at Chimy’s, but that’s how the cookie crumbles. VTM wishes everyone a very relaxing Labor Day.

Women’s Volleyball set to play SFA on Friday.

As if the lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin didn’t get enough on Saturday, the women’s volleyball team will face-off with our familiar opponents on Friday at 6:00 PM in the United Supermarkets Arena.
