1. Red Raider of the Game
Stephen Smith led the way for the Red raider bats today, going 4-5 with 2 RBI's including a solo shot in the 5th. The junior from Wolfforth was the only Red Raider with multiple hits, accounting for 4 of Tech's 12 on the day.
2. Play That Impacted the Game
The 2nd inning didn't start out so well for tech, as Gardner and Gute got out quickly. A walk and 2 singles loaded the bases for Floyd, who tripled home 3 runs, and then Smith singled Floyd in, putting tech up 4-0 early.
3. Stat of the Game
DH Cory Raley went 0-5 at the plate, including 3 strikeouts, to have a not so great day. You need your DH to be able to get on base to facilitate your offense, and unfortunately Raley just couldn't do that today.
4. Forgotten Play of the Game
Tech tried giving the game away, letting a 4-0 and 6-3 lead slide away, as Baylor scored 3 in the 3rd and 2 in the 8th that both included doubles early in the inning.
5. Big Reason Tech Won the Game
An early lead and a great pitching performance by Hayden Howard, who took over from a struggling Harpenau to pitch 5.1 innings gave Tech just enough to win the game and the series. When Smith has a good game at the plate, the offense usually follows suit.
Tech returns to the field with a home game against the Lobos of New Mexico on Tuesday with the 1st pitch set for 2pm.
