After missing out a few of their power forward targets, Tubby and company added Shawntrez Davis to their 2015 class. He is a 6'9, 215-pound power forward out of Sound Doctrine Christian in Georgia. He is not yet fully qualified, so there is a chance that he doesn't make it to campus, but he is worth the chance. His highlights are below.
I like his body control on both the offensive and defensive end. It is on full display on a few of his defensive highlights, where he blocks shots without fouling. On the offensive end, he is able to adjust his shot around the rim when defenders contest him. He has a nice, soft touch around the rim. He also runs the floor well.
Like most high school post players transitioning to college basketball, he will have to get stronger. I also think he needs to get more explosive around the rim. This is the type of player that Tech typically hasn't been able to land so if he makes it to campus he should do nothing but improve the team.
