The Lady Raiders (6-18, 0-4), head to Manhattan, Kansas today to play the K-State Wildcats (9-14, 3-9) at the Bramlage Coliseum at 2:00pm CST.  This game will be the 26th meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Lady Wildcats. K-State leads the series 13-12 after their win over Tech on January 14, 2014 (65-72).

If any game is winnable for the Lady Raiders it should be this one.  The game was an extremely tight game against the Wildcats in January and K-State has also struggled this year and only has three wins in Big12 play. In the last meeting between these teams, Amber Battle scored a career high of 32 points and Minta Spears had 12 points. In the last few games, there have been moments of great play and for the most part the Lady Raiders kept the game on Wednesday against the Baylor Bears close right up to the end (75-58).  Jasmine Caston has been improving and she scored 19 points against Baylor. If Diamond Lockhart and Ivonne Cook-Taylor can have good games and the Lady Raider Starters play well, then Tech can beat K-State today.

The Big12 Conference web-site ran an article on Amber Battle this week.  She has taken the leadership role this year and she is the best player on this squad. Battle is very level-headed and very strong and athletic.

"I want to finish playing as hard as I can," Battle said. "I want to prepare myself to be a senior leader and help my teammates grow on and off the court, while being the best person I can be."

The Wildcats main threats comes from Junior Guard Ashia Woods, who averages 10.7 ppg and 3.6 rebounds and Senior Forward Katya Leick, who averages 9.5 ppg and 4.8 rebounds and is a strong 3-point shooter with a 46.7% 3-Pt accuracy.  Freshman Guard Leticia Romero is averaging 14.2 ppg and 5.7 rebounds and rarely misses at the free-throw line, averaging 79.8% FT%. K-State attacks from the 3-Pt range and tend to come out quick and score strongly in the first half of their games but then they have waned at the end.

The Wildcats' Head Coach, Deb Patterson is in her 18th season with Kansas State. Her career record is 348-221 and with Kansas State. During her time in Manhattan, Patterson has directed the program to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, nine 20-win seasons, two Big 12 regular season titles (2004 and 2008) and one postseason WNIT crown (2006). In the history of K-State women's basketball, Patterson is the longest tenured coach and has the most NCAA Tournament appearances and the most 20-win seasons of any of her predecessors.
