Texas Tech Fights, Falls Short in Loss to Baylor 48-46

In arguably their best effort of the season, Texas Tech comes painfully close in their attempt to upset Baylor and toss the college football season into chaos.

Damn.

That's what we've been waiting for all season. Sure there were the frustrating turnovers (three in the first quarter) and frustrating penalties, but this Red Raider team fought valiantly all afternoon in Arlington. Bradley Marquez went out with style and many of the younger guys showed why there is a bright future ahead on the South Plains.

De'Andre Washington delivered another yeoman-like performance and Patrick Mahomes continues to show an incredible ability to extend plays and throw daggers. The defense played well in spurts, actually holding Baylor below their season average in points and showed the type of grit that bodes well for the future.

In the end, though, it was still a loss. Now we have the long winter ahead and hundreds of days before watching this program again. 4-8 is a bitter disappointment and this season was much more difficult than many expected. But after watching today I'm excited again. I'm excited to see the recruits coming in and how Coach Kingsbury can build on the passion and fight that his team showed today.

Thank you seniors and everyone involved in the program. Brighter days are ahead.
