Each year, 30 quarterbacks are named to the prestigious Davy O’Brien Award watch list, an honor bestowed on gunslingers with the potential to be named the top player at the position at the end of the season.
Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman made the cut.
The Grapevine native threw for 2,638 yards and 17 touchdowns during his freshman campaign, following his breakout season with an injury-limited sophomore stint where he threw for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns in just three games.
Below is a timeline of the award watch list:
- Nov. 10 - list is trimmed to 16 semifinalists
- Nov. 24 - list is trimmed to three finalists
- Dec. 10 - winner is announced
