Providing you with an update from each and every move the Red Raiders make to their roster this off-season.

NCAA Basketball: Texas Tech at Texas Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

Current Scholarship Players: 15 (two over the scholarship limit)

July 9th 2020 - Putnam Science C Vladislav Goldin signs to Texas Tech. The 7’1” prospect has been a long time target of Chris Beard. The Red Raiders have been the clear front runner in his recruitment for months.

May 27th 2020 - Former Georgetown G Mac McClung commits to transfer to Texas Tech. McClung averaged 15.7 PPG on 39.4% shooting during his sophomore season. The question is now if he will be granted a waiver by the NCAA to play during the 2020-2021.

May 23rd 2020 - Davide Moretti accepts the Olimpia Milano offer and will leave Texas Tech. He would have been a senior next season. He was a key part of the Final Four team and was second on the team in scoring last season.

May 17th 2020 - Davide Moretti is offered a 2+1 year deal to play for Olimpia Milano in the LBA (highest level of Italian basketball). Moretti has previously expressed interest in playing for Olimpia. A decision is expected in the coming days.

May 15th 2020 - Texas Tech makes an offer to Tallahassee Community College G El Ellis. The talented guard averaged 14.3 PPG, 4.5 APG, and 3.9 RPG all on 47.9% shooting from the field and 40.3% from three. The offer is semi-unexpected as Ellis’ commitment would bump the Red Raiders to 2 players over the scholarship limit.

May 14th 2020 - F Andrei Savrasov enters the transfer portal. The 6-7 big man averaged 1.1 points in 4.7 minutes of play per game. Savrasov is the second Texas Tech big man to enter the transfer portal this off-season (Russel Tchewa). Savrasov is a valuable stretch forward who could be a good addition to a Power 5 school. Andrei Savrasov has committed to Georgia Southern where former Texas Tech Assistant Coach Brian Burg will be head coach for his first season.

April 29th 2020 - Former VCU F/C Marcus Santos-Silva commits to transfer to Texas Tech. The big-man is a dominant force in the post. He plays incredible defense and is a great rebounder. He has immediate eligibility for the 2020-2021 season.

April 25th 2020 - Jahmi’us Ramsey enters his name into the NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility. The guard averaged 15.0 PPG on 42.6% shooting from deep. He will likely be the 3rd straight Red Raider to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft (Zhaire Smith, Jarrett Culver).

April 16th 2020 - Russel Tchewa enters his name into the transfer portal. The 7-footer averaged 1.7 PPG and just 5.1 minutes per game. Chewy will look for more minutes at a program that utilizes traditional big men more than Beard’s motion offense. Russel Tchewa has committed to University of South Florida.

April 13th 2020 - Wichita State G Jamarius Burton commits to transfer to Texas Tech. Burton is a true ball handler who broke the Wichita State freshman assist record with 126 dimes, and had the highest ever assist-to-turnover for a WSU true freshman at 1.85. Burton will redshirt the 2020-2021 season.

April 11th 2020 - Clarendon F Esahia Nyiwe commits to transfer to Texas Tech. Nyiwe was a incredibly efficient defender, averaging 2 BPG in just 14 MPG. The JUCO transfer has immediate eligibility.

November 12th 2019 - Nimari Burnett commits to Texas Tech. The point guard is the highest rated recruit in program history and is the first McDonald’s All-American on the team. Burnett is a projected starter and first round draft pick.

November 4th 2019 - Micah Peavy commits to Texas Tech. Peavy is a former high school teammate of Jahmi’us Ramsey. Peavy averaged 17.3 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 2.5 SPG at Duncanville.

August 12th 2019 - Chibuzo Agbo Jr. commits to Texas Tech. Compared to Justin Anderson, Agbo Jr. is a good shooter and slasher. He is also a tenacious and talented defender, a perfect match for Chris Beard.
