Red Raider of the Game

Hunter Hargrove. After Hunter grounded out in the 1st, he would walk and score in the 4th, single in the 6th, and double and score in the 8th. Hunter is the Big 12 leader in hits, doubles, and total bases, in both overall games and just conference play. With the departure of key offensive contributors, Hunter has really stepped up this season.

Play That Impacted the Game

In the 4th inning Klein flied out, then Hargrove walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Garcia then flied out and Berglund came to the plate with 2 outs and Hunter still on 2nd. With the count even at 2, berglund was able to rip a single into center that scored Hargrove. Then Farhat doubled in Berglund. Tech was a single strike away from having the inning end with no runs and still down 2-0. Instead a pair of 2-out hits tied the game up.

Stat of the Game

3. 3 Red Raiders hit doubles, which accounted for a third of their hits last night. Hargrove, Farhat, and Little all had doubles. Hargrove and Little crossed the plate twice while Farhat’s double resulted in a run that tied the game at 2.

Forgotten Play of the Game

An often forgotten piece of this Tech offensive juggernaut has been Parker Mushinski. In the bottom of the 8th, with 2 out and runner at 3rd, Parker got out of the inning with a strikeout. After Tech scored a run in the top of the 9th, Parker had a perfect 9th inning, with a pair of strikeouts and a ground out, getting the save for the Red Raiders.

Big Reason Tech Won the Game

After going down 2-0 early, Tech battled back, chipping away at the Buckeyes lead, and then taking it for their own. In games recently where the victory was the result of a blowout or an early lead, it was refreshing to see that the Red Raiders were able to win a close game, something they will need to do in the postseason.
