Texas Tech confirmed today that Tyler Scalzi has been invited to Jets rookie mini-camp this year. This says a ton about Scalzi’s measurable’s, mentality and ability coming from a team that doesn’t typically use a FB/TE like they do in the NFL. But don’t let his lack of tangible stats fool you, because it’s certainly not missed by the New York Jets.

Tyler Scalzi is 6’4 238 and is an absolute machine in the weight room. During Texas Tech’s pro day he had 37 reps at the 225lb weight mark.

Scalzi’s main playing time game in short-distance and red zone opportunities. A physical presence on the end or in the back field and was a big part of the running game’s success over the past 3 years.
We will keep you updated on Tyler’s progress and path to the NFL throughout the summer.
Congrats Tyler! #wreckem
