Just one day after being named the National Track and Field Athlete Of The Week, Texas Tech javelin/discus thrower Hannah Carson was named Big XII Athlete of the week.

Carson leads the NCAA in the javelin throw, and just took second in the NCAA at the Red Raider Open in the discus. Her throw of 61.97 meters is good for an all-time school record, and 12th in the all-time record books.
Hannah Carson is the first woman in collegiate history to record a throw of over 60 meters in both the javelin and the discus. To put it very simply, this is a really big deal.
Tomorrow, Carson looks to defend her titles in the discus and javelin at the Big XII Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Fort Worth from May 13th-15th.
