Texas Tech Finishes Off Abilene Christian, 7-2

The Red Raiders ended the road portion of the regular season schedule with a 7-2 win in Abilene

1. Red Raider of the Game

DH Cory Raley went 2-5 with a pair of RBI's and 2 swiped bases. His biggest hit was in the top of the 9th inning with a 2-RBI single that pushed the lead to 7-2. Cory would go on to steal 2nd base and advance to 3rd before Gute flied out to end the inning.

2. Play That Impacted the Game

Tanner Gardner led off the top of the 6th inning, with Tech down 2-1. He took the 4th pitch he saw out of the park to right field. His home run seemed to jump start the offense, with a run in the 8th, and 4 more in the 9th.

3. Stat of the Game

The teams combined to 6-31 with runners on base, and 6-23 with runners in scoring position. Sometimes you just don't have a good hitting night, and luckily for Tech, ACU had the same problem.

4. Forgotten Play of the Game

In the bottom of the 8th, with Tech up 3-2, Pearson reached on a fielder's choice, and then stole second. A single by Draper sent Pearson around 3rd and towards home plate. Right fielder Stephen Smith threw a bullet to the plate and Pearson was out at the plate to end the inning. Smith gets credit for being a great hitter, but he is greatly underrated as an outfielder.

5. Big Reason Tech Won the Game

A game that could have been overlooked by Tech, as the season is almost over and the Red Raiders could be caught looking ahead, especially as a top-10 team against a lower team on the road with a bit of a break for finals this week. They won't play again until next Thursday as they end the season with a conference series against West Virginia in Lubbock.
