Texas Tech vs. Sam Houston State: Postgame Press Conference Recap

Coach Kingsbury meets with the press after the game.

If you don't want to watch the video, I will recap it for you in one sentence. His comments are a continuation of last season's comments. He blames his offense and doesn't say much about the defense. He said the offense had no killer instinct. That tells me all I need to know. He refuses to lay blame where it is deserved. When you put up 59 points, you shouldn't have to say a word about your offensive performance. Could they have a made a play or two more? Yes. Did the receivers drop too many? Yes. Were they the problem? Absolutely not!

The defense was the problem. That group has a lot of work to do if Tech hopes to make a bowl. I think 6-6 is a lofty goal based on that performance alone. Kingsbury comments probably sound the same because the defense looked the same. He comes off as a frustrated coach with no answers and until he does it is going to be a bumpy ride.

Like I said in my quick post game thoughts, it is a long season and we saw plenty of teams struggle during week one. We will improve, but I am tired of the same old rhetoric. I am ready to change the script.
