We're starting with the offense and taking a look at each drive. I'm going to try and finish the defense tonight, but I'm not making any promises.

Nothing to see here. A short run by Crawford and two incomplete passes from Harrell.

This was perhaps the best drive of the game and it came on the 2nd offensive drive for Texas Tech. Harrell spread the ball around to Amendola for 16, Britton for 16 and 5. Crawford gets the ball for a 4 yard gain and then Crabtree gets his first touch of the game. Interestingly, this was a 3rd and 1 where Crabtree, starting on the right side of the field comes across the line of scrimmage, and is somehow able to avoid Virginia tacklers for a 8 yard gain. Mere mortals would have been stopped behind the line of scrimmage. Another Crawford run is capped by a Morris catch for 6 yards and a nice play by Detron Lewis for 10 yards where he slips over the middle and Harrell finds him for a TD.

Another less than impressive drive. Amendola does grab one for 15 and Crawford does catch a ball for 7, but other than that, nothing. Texas Tech is stopped on the 50 and I'd imagine that if we were a little later in the game, I think Leach would have no issue going for it on 4th and 3 at the 50. Virginia's offense was pretty inept almost the entire game. Don't forget that this is the spectacular LaCour play where he's essentially getting his clock cleaned and punting the ball all at the same time.

One play, two points. Looking back at this play, Winn went to help on the inside and the Virginia defensive end almost got to Harrell completely untouched. We would all do well to forget this play as quickly as possible.

Not a bad drive by any means and actually eats up a pretty good portion of the clock. Harrell starts by getting the ball to Crabtree for 3 while Morris gets the next 2 completed passes. Amendola grabs another pass for 13 and gets another Crawford rush. I believe at this point that Morris makes an amazing 8 yard one-handed catch. This play is essentially then negated as Harrell is sacked for a loss of 8 yards and then a holding penalty sets Texas Tech back to 2nd and 28. Harrell misses Britton and Morris gets 19 of those 28 back, but once again, Leach probably feels that he's too far out to go for it on 4th down. LaCour pins Virginia on their own 1 yard line. Great job. Unfortunately the defense gives up the 96 yard touchdown to Simpson when Virginia gets the ball.

Another 3 and out. Only 1 complete pass to Britton for 4 yards and Harrell throws towards Britton who appears to be in double coverage. On this 3rd and 6, Virginia brings 7, that's right 7, defenders. Harrell didn't have a chance.

02:40 | 2 | 00:08 | TTU 11 | 0 | -11 | Safety |
Nothing to see here except another safety. A delay of game penalty puts Texas Tech back to their 6 yard line, I can't imagine that we would have the same result had that penalty not occurred. Reed ends up giving up the sack, but I thought Harrell had plenty of time to get rid of the ball.

Hey, hey, hey. Another really good drive to start the 2nd half and it started with the onside kick. A true thing of beauty and loved the balls-to-the-wall attitude by Leach. Remember too that this is the drive that Crawford fumbled the ball and didn't turn it over to Virginia. I thought it was a bad call and it should have been Virginia ball, but I'm not complaining. The next play is a 12 yard grab from Walker. Crabtree gets the ball again for a short 6 yard gain with Amendola getting 4 yards and Morris catching a big pass for 15 yards. Crawford gets the ball twice, 8 and 1 yards, while Harrell is able to get the 1st down. Harrell makes a nice touchdown pass to Amendola, over a defender, in the corner of the endzone.

07:06 | 3 | 04:08 | TTU 7 | 9 | 56 | Turnover on Downs |
A pretty frustrating drive as Texas Tech was able to move the ball fairly effectively for the most part. Crabtree gets a 14 yard completion and then hurts his ankle. Leong comes in immediately and catches one for 11 yards. Leong can play, I really like him. Britton catches his 2nd pass for 17 yards and then the drive stalls. Crawford and Lewis each get a yard on a completion and then Crawford gets 4. Harrell throws the 4th and 4 pass to Crabtree, but the Virginia defender makes a nice play on the ball and Texas Tech turns the ball over on downs.

A very short drive with 2 incomplete passes and what is setting up to be a great play by Grant Walker, however, Walker fumbles the ball turning it over to Virginia.

Another drive where some yardage is gained, but ultimately the ball is turned over on downs. Morris gets the first down with a 5 and 7 yard grab and then Harrell then throws 3 incomplete passes along with a Lewis 7 yard run. On 4th and 3 Harrell throws the ball down the left sideline to Britton which ultimately falls incomplete, but Virginia is called for a pass interference penalty keeping the drive alive. Crabtree gets 29 yards and Texas Tech is now at Virginia's 8 yard line. Texas Tech ends up getting to 3 yard line and this is the point where no one is covering the receiver to the left. Ultimately Harrell throws incomplete to Crabtree. Harrell not throwing the ball to the receiver is a killer and I still don't know why he didn't get him the ball.

This is where the magic starts. Harrell & Co. start at their own 49 with a quick pass to Crawford for 6. A holding penalty means that Crabtree makes up 12 of those yards and Crawford rushes for the 1st down. Amendola gets a 14 yard completion putting Texas Tech at Virginia's 20, a Crawford dropped pass leads to a Crabtree touchdown pass for 20 yards. Virginia is called for pass interference, which there was, but Crabtree makes a spectacular catch.

A very short but productive drive. Ratliff recovers the fumble at the Virginia 4 and Crawford runs it in for 4 yards.

Perhaps the best clock management that I've seen from Texas Tech in quite some time. The Red Raiders need to burn over 2 minutes and they actually do it behind Kobey Lewis. A 9 yard run followed by a fumble and quick recovery by Lewis leads to another 10 yard rush and then a very nice 10 yard reception putting the ball on the Virginia 23. Trlica's balls of steel knock the field goal through the uprights for the win over Virginia in the Gator Bowl.
