Thursday Morning Notes

Not much out there this morning. I'm working on some new basketball material that I hope gets posted either at lunch or after I get home from work. I'll also try not to misspell anything today.

Texas Tech Football

The Texas Tech v. Oklahoma State game will televised on Fox Sports at 2:30 p.m. and the Big 12 has also agreed to sublicense their games on the "national" network, Versus. You think that having the Versus network in the same breath as ABC, ESPN and FSN . . .

"With games on ABC, FSN, ESPN and now VERSUS we have significantly expanded the reach of Big 12 football. We are pleased with this new agreement and appreciate the efforts of our partner FSN in bringing this opportunity to us."

Has the Big 12 "significantly expanded" its reach? (HT to BON, who in turn HT'ed The 12th Man Child -- Good to have the Aggie blog back).

Don't forget, today's the last day to vote on the Michael Crabtree projected stats for 2007. Up next, Graham Harrell . . .

Texas Tech Baseball

LAJ's George Watson has an article about the potential draftees in today's MLB draft. Potential draftees include junior Tech catcher Matt Smith who would be a huge loss for Tech if he were to sign with a major league team, but maybe just as important is that could see two of the Red Raiders 2008 signees be drafted.

Two of Tech's signees for the fall - right-handers Chad Bettis from Monterey and David Dinelli from Sierra (Calif.) College - are rated among the top 200 prospects in the nation by Baseball America. Bettis, the ace of the Plainsmen's staff in 2007, is projected at No. 124 overall, which would put him around the late third round to early fourth round, while Dinelli is at No. 194, placing him in the sixth round.
