Rivals.com Texas Top 100 2008

With a hat tip to Horns Fan at Burnt Orange Nation, Rivals.com released its Top 100 Recruits in Texas list. Texas Tech has secured just two players, 39 Seth Doege, QB out of Frenship and teammate defensive end Ryan Haliburton (coming in at 84). Both are three star recruits.

To contrast, Oklahoma has 11 guys on the list (including 1, 2, and 4), UT has 18, A&M has 13, and Oklahoma State has 4. LSU, like us, has two. But we beat Baylor (1)!

Bottom line is we have a recruiting deficit in our home state with UT, A&M, and Oklahoma. Nothing new there, which is why we frequently tap into JuCo talent. Still, I'd certainly like to see us do better in the Lone Star State given that virtually all our players come from Texas.

In any event, there are still a lot of uncommitted players on that list that Tech still has a chance to grab. The following players are giving us a look, listed by Rivals.com rank Player, position, Interest level

6 Darryl Stonum, WR, low
16 Daniel Campbell, OL, medium
