Texas Tech Baseball:
That's what I'm talking about. Colt Hynes deals for 7 1/3 innings, strikes out 9 and walks 1, giving up 1 run, leading Tech to win #2 of this 3 game set with Kansas. I called it early in the week (although it's really pretty obvious that Tech needed a sweep to get back into the swing of things) that Tech needed to handle a struggling Kansas Jayhawk team. Left fielder, Doug Thennis, went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI while James Leverton went 2 for 3. I should also mention that relief pitcher Travis Young pitched 1 2/3 innings of no-hit ball, facing the minimum and striking out 2. Good stuff.
LAJ's George Watson has his game story. George has this from Hynes:
"It was good to get something going. I feel like I've been struggling, so it was good to get it going," said Hynes, who walked just one and struck out nine, the most for the senior in a Big 12 game this season. "We had the same game plan pretty much, just changing speeds, and they had trouble with change-ups, so we worked that a lot today. Other than that, it was pretty much the same approach."
The series finale is today at 1:00 p.m.
