Thursday Morning Notes

Big 12 Tournament:

The setting is the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Crimson and Cream Machine has provided you guys with a fans guide to OKC. On a personal note, for those of you who have never been to Oklahoma City, I would strongly recommend that you go visit the Oklahoma National Memorial and Museum. It's a powerful place.

Back to basketball, Kansas Jayhawk blog, Rock Chalk Talk, handicaps the Big 12 Tournament.

Don't forget DTN's preview of Texas Tech v. Colorado game and DTN's reviews of the rest of the Big 12 matchups.

Texas Tech Basketball:

LAJ's Jeff Walker previews the Tech v. Colorado game and also has a Big 12 Tournament Notebook.

The DMN provides their All Big 12 Men's Basketball Team and they have the gumption not to pick Kevin Durant as POY. DMN's Tim MacMahon has a preview of the Tech v. Colorado game.

FWST has a Big 12 Notebook.

The SEN has a Big 12 article on the challenge the teams that play today face in order to win the tournament.

Useless basketball nugget #1: Did you know that former Cleveland Cavalier guard Craig Ehlo is originally from Lubbock (hat tip to BAD Radio).

Useless basketball nugget #2: Tech is not projected to make the NIT (which is great news), but sad nonetheless that someone has spent the time to predict who is in and who is out of the NIT.

Texas Tech Baseball:

The Red Raiders ended up splitting the series with UNLV as Tech lost to the Runnin Rebels 5-4. Tech certainly had their chances as first baseman Geoff Byrnes came to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th down a run only to strike out. The pitching today was spotty at best as Josh Scofield gave up 2 runs in 5 innings while getting the loss. The Tech offense was also a not up to par as they left 10 men on base. DH James Leverton led the team with 3 hits. LAJ's George Watson breaks down yesterday's game.
