LAJ's Don Williams has a profile on Tech's latest scholarship offeree, Daniel Howard. Howard is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end from Butler County (Kansas) Community College.
Some impressive numbers for Howard:
Don goes on to note that Howard has a great motor which is usually preferable to a guy who has talent but has little to no motor. The one item that bothers me is that no other school offered him a scholarship, but there's always the chance that this kid has something.
I've always thought that the A&M's and UT's of the world recruit guys who are at their peak in terms of talent (i.e. there may not be much room for improvement) whereas Tech has to recruit guys who have potential to be something bigger and better than where they are physically they day that they sign.
According to the Texas Tech/Scout.com front page there is apparently some interest in Hawaii DE Sam Fehoko. His measurables look great, but he'd be a long way from home.
Just as an aside, I can't endorse either Scout.com or Rivals.com, not because I wouldn't love to to sign up to either network, but because I probably can't be trusted with insider information and then not posting it here. It's too tempting.
