Recruiting Update - Tech Receives DE Commit from JC

Don Williams breaks down new commitment, Brandon Sharpe, a defensive end from Fresno City College.  We really know nothing about him other than his measurables (6-2, 235) and he had 9 sacks last year.  We'll see if he qualifies as he has a heavy class-load in order to qualify academically to play at Tech in the fall.

Don also does a decent job of breaking down the current status what's left as far as commitments are concerned:

With a little more than two weeks left until Feb. 7, when the national signing period begins, Tech is close to filling up on scholarships. The Red Raiders have three spots left. A pair of 2006 signees, Lyle Leong and Adam James, who will join the team this semester, count toward this class's limit. Mid-term signee De'Shon Sanders, a defensive back from City College of San Francisco, counts on last year's scholarship tally.

Late last week, Tech secured commitments from two players - Brownsboro offensive lineman Lonnie Edwards and Sugar Land Marshall defensive end Tyrone Sonier - who had pledged to other schools. Sonier, a Kansas State pledge since last spring, switched his allegiance to Tech just before visiting this weekend.

After much consternation, there were a lot of fans upset over the quality of the current class.  By all indications, this class seems to be pretty decent.
