Texas Tech - Insight Bowl Bound

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will face off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday, December 29, 2006 at Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, Arizona, in the Insight Bowl.  Personally, I'm glad that this is the bowl that Tech will be attending this bowl rather than than the Houston Bowl.  The drive to Houston would have been much easier, but I think that it's safe to say that the Insight Bowl has a much higher profile than the Houston Bowl.

Don Williams of the LAJ reports that Mike Leach has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Miami job, and he's not exactly putting to rest the rumors that he might be interested.  He said that he hasn't talked to anyone at Miami, but I'd love for Leach to simply state that he's not interested at all.  When asked about the situation he said:

"It's impossible to say,'' Leach said Saturday. "I'd just have to wait until the time comes. I haven't thought about it. I'm just worrying about what's going on right now."

Don also gives us another story about the bowl game being the last game for Brock Stratton, but that Kellen Tillman is seeking a 6th year of eligibility.  In my prior blog, you would be able to tell that Tillman was not my favorite player.  I do not wish ill will on any individual, but if Tillman was not granted a 6th year of eligibility, it would not break my heart.  I felt that Tillman was not the smartest player on the field and he seemed to make many mental mistakes, including 3 personal foul penalties throughout the season.

There will be more information about the Insight Bowl, and the Golden Gophers as the week progresses.

If anyone has flight or ticket information, please feel free to post this in the Diary section.
