Saturday Morning Football Notes

SEN's Tim Griffin, who as always puts together a great Big XII notebook, has this week's edition.  It touches on both basketball and football, but I found this bit to be the most interesting:

It's been interesting to read some of the message board shots that Leach is taking from some fans on Tech's message boards after his flirtation with Miami for the job that eventually went to Randy Shannon. Good sources have told me that Miami was offering a contract worth about half what Leach makes in Lubbock - at a much higher cost of living in South Florida to boot. And Tech certainly is in a better position to hire a solid replacement if Leach should ever chose to leave because of the new facilities at the school in the last few years.

I don't go onto any of the Tech message boards, not because I don't like them, but I have to spend quite a bit of time writing on my own and looking for items to post here.  But I wonder why folks would be upset with Leach?  If someone presented you with a job opportunity the least that you do is take a look at it, right?  I don't blame Leach for looking at the Miami job, however, I was holding my breath that he wouldn't leave and I thought that the program would be left with a really big hole to fill if he did leave, but like all things in life, we'd figure it out.   Life's too short to be upset at Leach for that.

Here's the official press release from the university.

LAJ's Don Williams reports that Dana Holgorsen has been named the successor to the offensive coordinator position, by recently departed Sonny Dykes.  Congrats to him.

And for those of you who are in the Lubbock area and are Suddenlink cable subscribers, Suddenlink has come to terms with the NFL Network and they will be broadcasting the game on Friday.
