The Red Raiders face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CST in Little Rock, AR. I believe this game will be on ESPN2 so we'll have some national coverage.
Ken Pomeroy's formulas say that the Razorbacks are the 52nd best team in the nation and they appear to be a very well balanced team. Arkansas' biggest weakness appears to be turnovers as they rank 293rd, but rank 46th in 2 point field goal percentage. The one scary number for Tech is that Arkansas ranks 30th in offensive rebounds and pull down 33.6 boards a game (compared to Tech's 28.9).
Arkansas is led by 6-2 freshman Patrick Beverly, but he has been incredibly inconsistent. Sonny Weems a 6-6 junior forward averages 12 points a game.
This Arkansas team does not have a single senior, but has 7 juniors.
I am really encouraged by the progress of Prince, however, I worry about his ability to match up against Charles Thomas, a 6-8, 245 forward. I'm afraid that Prince is probably a little small and Rizvic is probably a little (really he's probably a lot) too slow to cover Thomas.
So long as we see progress that's all I ask. This would be a great pre-conference victory that would look great if Tech was fighting for a post-season bid, but I'm more worried about conference play and being ready for Big XII opponents.
I really expect Tech to play well on Saturday after the performance against Centenary, I cannot express how much Prince and Decensae White mean to this team in terms of competing at a high level.
