Fresh off back to back scrimmages with a touchdown, Da’Leon Ward had seemed to fall back into the coaches’ good graces. That is until he was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
#TexasTech RB Da'Leon Ward was arrested and booked into Lubbock County Jail about an hour ago, according to the booking sheet it is for theft at least $2500 but less than $30,000

Ward has been fighting to earn back the starting running back position all off-season. He and last year’s rushing leader, Tre King, had received most of the first team reps and it had seemed as though Ward would get a large amount of carries this season.
After a 2016 freshman campaign that saw him lead the team in rushing, Ward suffered a leg injuries and reportedly had grade and personal issues that caused him to redshirt in 2017. Fully healthy and eligible, Ward seemed to be re-energized and ready to help the Red Raiders in 2018, however this arrest likely puts a stop to his comeback story. Soon we will receive more information, however right now, Kingsbury and staff have new questions they will need to answer.
