The season is about half over and Tech finds themselves in decent position, near the top, of the Big 12. However, a series loss at Oklahoma has Tech at a turning point as it looks ahead to the postseason. With a better than advertized WVU, the reigning tournament champs TCU and the ever dangerous Oklahoma State still to play, Tech has to take advantage of the weaker teams in the conference. A weakened Baylor this weekend, followed by a slumping Kansas State can have Tech in a much better postion, but can afford nothing less than a 4-2 record over those two series. With Tanner Gardner and Ryan Long returning from injury and Davis Martin recovering, Tech needs to bridge the gap until their normal Friday starter can return.
