A promising season for the Lady Raiders has turned sour dropping two game in a row this week alone. Their last win came against Kansas in a 75-60 contest that saw Texas Tech win their first conference game since upsetting West Virginia in early January. It was difficult for the Lady Raiders to find their form when they went on a 10 game losing streak through late January and most of February.
On Wednesday, the team traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma State. Texas Tech had won in their first meeting. The outcome was different this time; they lost 75-62. The Lady Raiders could not keep up with Oklahoma State even trailing at halftime. The Cowgirls maintained the lead throughout the entire game with Texas Tech coming close to striking distance, but could never completely cover the ground lost. Freshman Arella Guirantes led in scoring for the Lady Raiders. She had 15 points and 6 rebounds in the losing effort.
Yesterday, Texas Tech traveled to Waco to face No. 3 Baylor in their final road game of the regular season. The Lady Raider offense started sluggish through the first quarter, but Baylor’s offense fired back throughout the game and secured the win with a 25-point 4th quarter. Larryn Brooks led the team in scoring as she recorded 15 points in the 86-48 loss.
The regular season finale takes place in Lubbock as the Lady Raiders host TCU at 7 PM on Monday.
