McLane Carter, a three-star QB recruit from Tyler Junior College, announced today on Twitter he is committing to Texas Tech. His commitment came on the heels of his official visit to Tech on December 2nd. He picked up Tech's offer on November 16th and had an unofficial visit with them on November 25th.

With the commitment of Carter, the Red Raiders can have good depth at quarterback next year if Patrick Mahomes leaves for the NFL. If that were to be the case, Carter would be joining Nic Shimonek, Jett Duffey, Payne Sullins, and Colt Garrett. He would possibly be given the chance to compete with Shimonek and Duffey for the starting job or at least compete for the backup spot. Either way, the arrival of Carter can enhance this team's quarterback depth more.
