Martin was a standout pitcher last year for the Red Raiders, helping lead them to the College World Series for the second time in three years. He had a 10-1 record in 2016 with two saves. He pitched in 89.1 innings, had an earned-run average (ERA) of 2.52, and 61 strikeouts. His 10 wins were tied for most in the Big 12 Conference and in most wins by any freshman pitcher in the nation.
Martin's biggest win came against the top-ranked Florida Gators during the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. He pitched seven shutout innings and gave up only three hits. The Red Raiders prevailed 3-2 and won their first College World Series game in program history.
Congrats on your honor Davis Martin and good luck this upcoming season!
